The Dress
I started look for the perfect plus-size wedding dress, and it was more than a bit of a challenge. Never mind that sample sizes are only made for 20 year old perfect 10 blushing brides — there's also a seemingly endless number of trends and fabrics to choose from. Being a more mature bride of 38ish, yes my age, and also by size 38 DD! I was becoming quite an expert on plus size, fuller figure, larger bust, pleasantly plump, and any other google search predictive text wedding gown search one could come up with,
Here a few tips for bigger busted fuller figured brides and reasons why I loved my dress:
Support - Yes especially your bust and middle, you want to feel comfortable and don't want anything to pop out when you are taking fun photos, rocking your first dance or throwing the bouquet. You also want the right and adequate undergarment support. At 22:00 that night when your arm is getting pins and needles from holding your bouquet and, your cheeks sting from too much smiling, the last thing you want to worry about is sucking in your stomach and your cleavage.
I really recommend going to visit a good lingerie shop and spending the extra on the undergarments, if you are over 35 you don't necessarily care about sexy and the first wedding night, you just want a beautiful silhouette for the pictures.
Anything A-line, especially if it has an empire waist, can be very flattering, you want to accentuate your shape and avoid flimsy fabrics, they skim the body and magnify every shadow and bump.
Choose something that fits your personality and that you feel gorgeous and comfortable in.
My least favourite body parts - stomach, backside and hips - I felt this dress was so flattering, I didn't have to sacrifice oxygen or comfort for an amazing day.
My favourite parts of this dress - I've never had a slender middle and the dress just accentuated and made it look like I had a tiny waist! My bust was supported, because I detest it when bride adjust their bust lines and pull up dresses constantly, even the skinniest bride shows some kind of fold or arm fat by their armpits. The sheer lace allowed the top section of the dress gave a lovely boat neck line which made my short neck feel elegant and elongated.
The pleats on the dress - super flattering hips and backside, fun and enough movement for dancing, and also enough space for a husband to take off the garter.
There is a little bit of netting inside the dress and I didn't have to wear a separate net skirt, as the existing, provided just enough poof and flair to make my waist look even tinier!
Colour, the photographer managed to capture a few shots which I think it was either the MAC shimmer or the reflection of light from the material from the dress that made me glow and highlight my complexion!
