The Dress

Sisterhood of the travelling dress!

This beautiful dress will be third hand, and has served both me and the bride before me, Amy, very well. I bought it from Amy through Still White after I tried it on in store but couldn't afford the retail price!

Here are the details Amy posted (first owner) when she sold it to me:

"My ‘Johanna’ lace dress is from the KWH Wild Hearts collection. I purchased it from KWH Malvern in January 2016 and wore it at my wedding in May.

It is a stylish, ivory-colour gown with a high halter neck and stunning lace overlay. The back features a low cut back with covered buttons for an elegant look. The train can be tied up in a bustle at the back with ribbon prefect for later in the night.
**ribbon has since come off and been lost, so alterations will need to be made here to be able to hold the train up

The dress is a size 8 and was hemmed at KWH – I am 167cm and wore 9cm heels. Im usually a size 8-10 in most stores. As there is no boning in the dress and its pulled up by the neck tie, the dress could possibly fit between a size 8 & small size 12. I paid $2800 for dress and hemming and it has been professionally dry cleaned (within one week of the wedding).

This dress exceeded my expectations. It was incredibly comfortable to wear and I absolutely loved it. I am sad to say goodbye but believe it is too nice of a dress to sit in my cupboard. I know the next owner will love it as much as I do. (She was right!)

I loved the dress as is, however I have seen photos where others have made changes to it -Eg. change the back tie to a button to have a complete backless look, or girls wore the KWH Clarisse skirt over the dress for a more formal look for the ceremony. The dress also came with a ribbon belt to go around the waist (I chose not to wear this)."

Everything Amy said about the dress was right. I am 169cm tall and so I wore 7cm heels and didn't have to re-hem, I did have a hook and eye inserted just above the top button to have the dress fit more snugly around the waist as I felt it was a little lose around the top half. I also found this dress incredibly light and comfortable to wear throughout the day, but would definitely recommend a double knot for the neck tie. As you can see it is quite a versatile dress and as Amy suggested, there are other add ons at KWH that also go perfectly with it. My wedding was in Feb 2017 and the dress wasn't too hot, or too cold. Plus the lace design is just stunning!

This dress has been so dearly loved by both me and Amy and we would love to see it make another girls wedding beautiful rather than watch it go dusty in the wardrobe!

It has been dry cleaned but there is slight tan staining under the arms. I believe this could possibly be fixed by a higher quality dry cleaner as my mum got it cleaned at our local and trusted (but more affordable) store!
