About the Dress
I knew this was "the dress" as soon as I put it on. I found this dress at a small boutique bridal place in Newnan, Georgia called Sure Bridal - its apart of their Sure Bride Private Collection. They boast of their hand-picked collection that is Southern, Unique. Refined, and Exquisite (S.U.R.E.). Make sure to check out their website and Instagram!
As a graphic designer, I must admit, I was a little picky in terms of any decorative elements. I didn't just want floral appliqués sewed randomly on the front - I wanted the elements to flow, be intentional, and be symmetrical. The neckline on this dress and how it framed my chest and shoulders instantly drew me in when it was on the hanger. It was the perfect combination of floral and Art Deco design. Once I put it on, I was brought to tears and couldn't stop smiling. It hugged my waist, flowed around my curves, and flared just below my hips. The bottom half transitions to a solid white - letting the decorative top shine and not get too overwhelming.
The back features a keyhole style that keeps the front fitted and in place while opening it up and framing the mid-back. I felt like, just like the front, it was well designed and thought-out.
And the train..... I honestly didn't want a train until I saw this one. It's absolutely stunning - following the same intentional floral & art deco elements, it creates a heart shape around the wearer. The beauty of it wasn't wasted when it was bustled either. The train is gathered in two places and fixed below the smile of the back to cascade down. Again, it looks intentional and flares wonderfully. I had so much fun swinging the bustle around while dancing - showing off the train in a new way.
I wore this dress the entire night of our outdoor wedding without any issues or complaints - other than needing help for the bathroom. It is incredibly sturdy and well-made. The solid white material is a bit heavy and stretchy which kept wrinkles from forming after sitting down for dinner. There was slight discoloration at the bottom of the dress by the end of the night but the dry cleaner assured me that cleaned out easily and it was back to its original white color.
I had it professionally cleaned and boxed the week after our wedding and it's been sitting in my closet since. I was debating on keeping it but I rather see it get used again and make another bride as happy as it made me. It is a gorgeous dress - and it made me feel like a princess. I'm literally tearing up, writing this description - such great memories for such a perfect day.
Alterations
The shoulder straps were taken in, the gown was hemmed, push cups were added, and a bustle was added to take up the train for the reception.
