The Dress

Rare custom Iris Monique Lhuillier showstopper with colorful floral embroidery inspired by the colorful streets of Cartagena. ML fall 2022 features light and airy gowns that float on air with bold botanical details that celebrate life with zest and fun. A-line dress with stunning hand-sewn appliques of flowers scattered on pure white tulle.

Why I love this dress: Incredibly unique way to get a pop of color in a white dress- SO MANY compliments! It has the wow factor of a ballgown without all that weight so it's comfortable enough to dance in all night! Also solo bathroom break approved (iykyk). After trying on lots of colorful dresses that didn't feel bridal and white dresses that didn't feel special I finally found this dress at the Monique flagship in New York City - I was initially hesitant to invest so much money on a single use dress but looking back my dress is one of the most memorable and commented on details from our wedding and I have no regrets. She's too beautiful to stay in storage and needs to be out in the world making wedding dress dreams come true!

Alterations

Ordered from designer with waist shortened to size 8 length and then had shoulders taken in and bottom hemmed by seamstress to preserve all the original embroidery. Has American Bustle A.K.A. Over-Bustle (see photo)
