The Dress

Five different types of lace appliques and over 5,000 beads and sequins add beautiful detail to this stunning floor-length sheath wedding dress. A plunging V-neckline, a low back with crisscross straps, and a dramatic cathedral train complete the look.

This is the description directly from David's Bridal. I actually wouldn't have normally picked this dress out, but after MANY bridal appointments and was just over trying dresses on, I grabbed it off the rack and decided to give it a try. I fell in love with the train and details on this dress. Wasn't the exact silhouette I was looking for, but also loved the low back. You can see in the photos I didn't go with the crisscross straps but they can easily be changed back. I also didn't have it dry cleaned due to our local dry cleaner being under new ownership and not hearing good things, and I also didn't want to put anymore money into this dress. There are typical stains on the train from dragging on the ground. I also have makeup on the straps as well that will need to be cleaned or can be removed as well. My seamstress had added thicker pieces behind the straps to make more comfortable. So, those can easily be removed and that would also remove any makeup as well. There are minor snags here and there that aren't super noticeable unless up close and you have to search for them. The dress was like this when I bought it and just never bothered having my seamstress trim any of the snags. I also am not sure on the year of the dress either. They don't list the year online.

Alterations

I had to have the waist taken in and around the hips a little bit. She did some minor alterations to fit around my bust as well. The sewn in cups had to be taken out as they were too small and made the top look awkward. I ended up using the double sided sticky push up boobs to give me that lift. I do feel someone with a little bit smaller bust would fit into the top better than I did. I made it work, but could have used a little bit more material on the sides of my boobs. I am a 34-36 DD for reference. Straps were altered as well, she added more material to make them more comfortable and lowered the straps some for more lift. I believe the back was also lowered a bit. Had it hemmed slightly. And in the last few photos I showed the small hook she added to bustle the train. I don't have all of my wedding photos back yet so I chose the best ones I have to try to give a good idea of how it wore/looked.
