The Dress

Stunning floral dress handmade in England, unique as was made for me by Dig for Victory in Brighton. Our wedding was outdoors, in lovely scenery, and I wanted something elegant but natural, that complemented the surroundings and me, yet also stood out. The dress certainly fulfilled that brief, is beautifully made with a lot of care, and garnered a lot of comments and attention.

The dress is botanical floral lace over olive green taffeta with a darted V-neck bodice on a full-length half-circle skirt (lined). The dress is zipped at the back and has a seperate red ribbon at the waist, to tie at the back in a bow. The dress is fully lined, so the skirt is 3 layers - green underskirt, olive taffeta skirt, overlaid lace full-length. I am a small size 12, sometimes a 10, and the dress was fitted for me. I am 167cm tall and wore short (3cm) heels.

The dress is really comfortable, with a satisfying ‘swoosh’, and not cumbersome or hot. The simplicity of the shape of the dress makes an excellent stage to show off the colour and beauty of the botanical lace that overlays it. The right balance of colour and design.

There is a red ribbon as a waistband, that is tied around the waist with a bow at the back and helps define the bodice. The red really sets the dress off.

The dress was only worn for my wedding day and was professionally cleaned after.
