The Dress

A flattering, beautiful custom-designed silk gown by Australian designer, Gwendolynne Burkin.

You are welcome to have the elegant Richard Nylon single layer drape veil (mounted on combs) too, if you wish to wear a veil.

This ‘Hope’ gown features Gwendolynne’s signature styled hand-beading on the bodice. The skirt flows beautifully (flattering soft pleats). It features a small, 30 cm train that can be buttoned up when not required (or for dancing!).

This dress was COMFORTABLE to wear. I found that despite not being 100% in shape (I had a baby 14 months prior), I didn’t need to wear shapewear with this gown. If you wish to wear shapewear with it, the designer recommended the Spanx - ‘Trust your thinstincts’ style or similar.

The dress was dry-cleaned by Ferrari Wedding Gown Cleaners and boxed. I have stored it as per their instructions (will include these with the dress).

The waist of the dress (beaded waistline before the skirt begins) measures 32 cm across.

This dress will fit those who have shoulders on the narrower side. If you have broad shoulders, unfortunately I don’t think the capped sleeves will fit you comfortably.

There is minor damage to the train (see arrows indicating small holes near the hemline in the last photo). These were caused by someone stepping on it in stilettos on grass (the dress was otherwise quite resilient). You can’t see it when wearing the dress due to the way the fabric pleats and drapes (it is deliberately spread out that way for the purpose of showing the issue).
