The Dress

Galia Lahav Holly Gown (2023 season) is absolutely stunning. Our guests and vendors couldn't stop raving about it - and most importantly, I felt incredibly beautiful in it. Our wedding day was the best day of my life, and I would love for this gown to be loved by another bride.

Color Family: Ivory + Nude

Gown Notes: Holly is a stunning strapless gown with a basque waist, built in corset, sweetheart neckline, ivory organza with embroidered lace and a dramatic train. The built in corset and basque waist is incredibly flattering and supportive - there are multiple layers of zippers to ensure the perfect fit. The lace embroidery and layered ivory organza is stunning - you can see in the photos that it literally picks up the sun & candlelight and glows; it's absolutely beautiful. Even though there are multiple layers of fabric, the gown is actually quite light and you could wear it comfortably the full day. The train is dramatic and gorgeous going down the aisle. There is also a bustle built in which you can easily use to pick up the train after your ceremony.

Fit Notes: This gown is a Galia Lahav size 40 with some slight alternations to take in the bust and waist. I am 5'4 and wore 3 inch heels so it was hemmed to skim the floor - the length would comfortably accommodate another 1-2 inch taller person as well.

Alteration Notes: All alterations were done in house at Galia Lahav's NYC flagship. Galia has salons across the country where you could try on the gown as it was from her latest season. The alterations I did include:
- Adding a bustle
- Removing the built in 'illusion bra'. The gown still has cups built in but I removed what looked more like a 'shelf bra'
- Added a few additional layers of fabric, could easily be removed, for a little more coverage: included lining skirt in two layers of ivory organza and lining bodice in two layers of ivory chanel closer to outer layer than boning
- Added a small clip in the gown slit - when it's clipped, it just closes the leg slit slightly so it doesn't open as high up on the thigh. You can keep it open or 'closed'

Other Notes:
- I wore the gown for 6 hours during my wedding in October 2023, then changed for dancing at my reception. It is professionally cleaned and stored in a gown preservation bag. I have the original Galia gown hanger and pink gown bag.
