The Dress

Such a gorgeous combination; I felt magical all day and night! Loved the shape of the Oak gown but wanted something extra, so I chose to pair it with the dreamy Mayfair skirt on top.

Oak is a simple, traditional style dress with modern elements from the feminine bow at the back. It hangs beautifully and has a flattering racer/halter neckline. Luxurious mikado fabric throughout (heavyweight, structured silk) and a full circle skirt with box pleats, pooling to a train. Plus, the dress has pockets!

The Mayfair skirt is everything I wanted with the floaty fabric and frills! Made from silk organza with raw edges to the ruffles, zip and hook fastening and fixed satin waistband.

Measurements above were my measurements at my original fitting. Alterations as follows: waist taken in to fit, length shortened and D Cup inserts sewn into the bodice so a bra was unnecessary on the big day. I'm 5'2", 34D bust and wore 3" heels.

The dress itself was worn for a total of 10 hours and photos taken around the City of London. It has been dry cleaned, though some markings remain along the hem of the inside lining but these can't be seen when worn. Alternatively, they should come out with another clean or can easily be cut out if the length needs further shortening. Ribbons have been sewn in to allow the dress to be bustled but the loop will need to be re-sewn.

Tiny hole on the Mayfair skirt as my train got stepped on, and a couple of minor stretched areas along the hem from wear, but hardly noticeable when on. Finger loop also needs to be re-sewn, but no other flaws otherwise, and this has been hand washed and pressed.

I purchased from the Halfpenny boutique in 2022, and can provide the original hanger, garment bag and gloves for handling, as well as the fabric offcuts from the seamstress and tissue paper for boxing from my dry cleaner.
