About the Dress
Beautiful "Severine" gown by Monique Lhuillier. This listing is for the DRESS ONLY, but I also have the veil that can be sold separately or negotiated in with the dress. This dress was the exact opposite of what I thought I wanted: I usually like things very modern, sleek, and simple. However, my consultant pulled this as a curveball final option, and I fell in love!
My favorite things about this dress:
1. The beautiful scoop back.
2. The unique subtle "nude" undertone that still feels bridal.
3. How light and comfortable it is for a dress of its size.
4. How perfectly the veil matches the dress and the beautiful blusher that adds a stunning traditional touch. The veil almost glows in sunlight!
I've tried to include all relevant details below, but let me know if you have any questions! I can provide more pictures as well.
PRICE: I paid $7,738.09 total for both dress and veil(pre-alterations). Pretax, the veil was $1,725 and the dress $5,490. I can provide receipts for both. I am potentially open to offers.
HISTORY: Both dress and veil were worn once and ordered new from Monique Lhuillier via Alexia's Bridal Boutique in Raleigh, NC. The dress, originally a 4, was altered by Alexia's reputable in-house seamstress to fit my 5'2" and 30d/31.5"B-24.5"W-34"H frame while wearing 80 mm (3.2") heels. Accordingly, the size is now closer to a 2 and the length should work for someone 5'5" in a flatter shoe. HOWEVER, I did add push-up cups to it which the cleaners removed meaning someone with a slightly larger bust could probably fit in it without the extra padding.
CONDITION: Couture cleaner J. Scheer in NYC cleaned and preserved both the gown and veil. I can provide screenshots of the receipt and emails confirming its arrival at J. Scheer less than two weeks after my 2023 wedding. Post-cleaning and preservation, the gown is in near-perfect condition (there is some light discoloration of the horsehair that's not visible due to it being the innermost layer). The veil is in mint condition and is on a metal comb.
COLOR/MATERIAL: Silk white/nude. “Silk white” (bright ivory) Chantilly lace bodice and appliques trail down onto the tulle skirt with “nude” silk lining. The color is unique without being bold. It has a subtle cafe/blush undertone that becomes more “white” in brighter light. The veil perfectly matches the tulle of the skirt and lace on the bodice of the dress.
WEIGHT/COMFORT: She's so light and comfortable for an a-line/ball gown! I have sensitive skin and didn't find the lace itchy. It also pulls your waist in slightly without making you feel compressed. I ate a large wedding brunch, several appetizers, dinner, and cake and was still comfortable thanks to the cut of the waist and skirt.
Alterations
Straps were shortened, the waist taken in, and length taken from the bottom. I also added a French bustle (my mom and MOH were able to tie it in five minutes at the wedding) and push-up bust cups (that the cleaners removed). It fits like a size 2.
