The Dress

This is the one you’ve been waiting for! A fresh-off-the-runway Monique Lhuillier (ML) wedding dress of your royal wedding dreams! This dress won’t make you feel like a princess. It makes you feel like a Queen.

This is the aptly-named Buckingham from her Fall ’23 collection, and it’s been rarely photographed or worn IRL yet. I purchased this gown from the NY ML store in January ’23, making me one of the first brides to wear this dress for my September ‘23 wedding. Classic, timeless, while still giving that drama we’ve come to expect from a ML couture gown, this is stunner is ready for her next bride. Note: If you’ve seen the dress on social, please known that ML changed the draping of the front bodice in more recent productions samples (ML told me “this sometimes happens” when I asked), making the dress you see here truly special and better capturing the original intent of the designer.

Dress comes with a detachable Watteau cathedral-length train and detachable shoulder straps. I didn’t care for the shoulder straps personally, so I chose not to wear them (this is how the dress is being styled on social, but the stock images show the straps), but the straps will be sent to the dress’s next owner in case she prefers them. I’m 5’2 and wore a 3 inch heel with the dress. Given the style of the dress, it should be both easy and flattering to wear on many body types. Dress is going to be professionally cleaned next week.

Marseille Veil (also from her Fall ’23) is being sold separately for another $800 (Retail $1200). (Side note: the veil might actually be my favorite part of the entire look). The white opera length gloves are also available to purchase directly from ML, but aren’t being sold here.

Alterations

Dress taken in about 1/2 inch at waist and bust taken in. For reference, my “street” bra size is 32B, and bridal bust size is 35.5. Removable cups added for shape and stability (and to go braless). Easily removable. Dress front hemmed. Back cathedral length train left unaltered.
