The Dress

As soon as I tried on this stunning dress in the Rolling In Roses flagship boutique in York, I knew it was ‘the one’!

Stylish but understated, incredibly lightweight and floaty, it feels fantastic to wear and is easy to move around in. Made from luxury charmeuse satin created from recycled bottles reclaimed from the ocean, it is also highly sustainable.

The full half-circle skirt and draped pleated sleeves, combined with the wide V neckline and open-back bodice make for a statement wedding gown without too much fuss. Fastening with a handmade pearl and gold button at the nape of the neck. It has a modest but still dramatic train with a perfectly placed hand loop to enable you to scoop it up when moving around.

Worn for 10 hours on my wedding day, the dress has been professionally dry-cleaned but the underside of the train is a little marked from the day. Once on, however, this is barely noticeable.

Size is roughly a UK 10 but runs generous as the back is open and it is completely unstructured. The measurements listed are from the Rolling In Roses size chart. It can be taken in a bit if needs be and the length can be hemmed.

Alterations

I opted to remove the under-bust darts for a cleaner look. The seamstress took up the shoulders and opened the arm holes. I also had some hidden poppers added to the back to keep my underwear in place.
