The Dress

J Andreatta Love in Portofino dress — a romantic, boho, ivory coloured, flowy, sheer dress. As soon as I tried it, I immediately fell in love with it and could immediately see myself wearing it on my wedding day. It was so comfortable and easy to wear. The top of the dress is a beautiful floral print silk corset that can be buttoned up at the back which puts emphasis on the waist, while the bottom opens up and falls naturally without the stiffness that can be found in the ballgown type of dresses.

I ordered this dress in December 2021 from The Wedding Club in South Kensington, London. It was made in Sydney at the J Andreatta ateliers and delivered in April 2022. I got married one month later and immediately dry cleaned it after. The bottom of it got sadly a bit stained with soil and that didn't go away following the dry cleaning. This is barely visible and is only present on one side at the bottom of the dress around the hem and should be fine if the dress is being hemmed.

Alterations

We made very simple alterations and didn't have to touch the sizing of the dress as my weight remained stable.

We added padded bra cups. I had them removed before dry cleaning the dress but I still have them and happy to give them away alongside it. They'd just need to be stitched back. We also adjusted the straps, shortened the hem, and added a small hook in the train should I wish to hang it to the back at some point. Alterations were made at the Alterations Boutique in Marylebone.

Note that because the dress is sheer, I wore it with a nude slip skirt that I bought from M&S so I'd recommend doing the same rather that doubling up the bottom of the dress to keep that romantic dreamy effect.
