This couture wedding dress is a one-off gown designed by Daniel Learmont couture. This timeless gown is inspired by Christian Dior gowns from the 50/60s with a modern twist. Read below to discover how it can be customised to suit you with great ease. The extremely unique Gazar Silk fabric is ethereal in sunlight, glowing due to its slight sheerness. Gazar is light in weight, making the gown comfortable and breathable in the warmer months. It is a bouncy fabric that drapes beautifully, the slight stiffness allowing it to fall softly and not appear floppy.
I felt ‘myself’ in the gown because it was so comfortable and I could move and dance with great ease. The bodice has boning in it so it has a great structure and it stayed in place all day - I didn’t have to pull it up at all. The sleeves were not constricting me from movements I had to do but they stayed in place.
The off-the-shoulder look is romantic and feminine. The unique asymmetric design is flattering, accentuating the curves of your body. The skirt overlay means you get the best of both a fitted and ball gown look. The train is very manageable and in proportion with the dress. The skirt is a little curvier than straight and has plenty of room to walk and dance comfortably.
The unique skirt overlay has been designed to sit predominantly to one side to balance the asymmetric top of the dress. This was my favourite part of the dress because it was so different and flowed beautifully behind me. It can be removed with ease as it is stitched within the folds of fabric on the hips. When dancing, it can be picked up and out of the way but I didn’t do this as it didn’t get in anyone's way. There is a small amount of tulle within the overlay that can be removed or added to adjust its volume. I can give further details about how this can be done with ease.
The overlayed material on the bodice that connects to the sleeves is not fixed in place on the front of the gown, only on the back. It falls nicely without behind stitched to the front but I chose to have the dressmaker make 3 small stitches which were enough to keep it in the place where it best suited me. This piece of fabric is extremely easy to manipulate and can be controlled and positioned to suit the bride. It can be positioned lower or higher with great ease, only needing 3-4 tiny stitches to keep it in the desired position.
The buttons go to the lower back and have a hidden zipper behind them to make the dress easy to put on and remove.
Worn once and dry-cleaned. There is a very minor, small faded mark on the bottom of the back of the skirt but it is not at all noticeable. The remainder of the dress is in perfect condition.
