The Dress

If you are dreaming of an ethereal wedding gown straight out of a fairy tale, this is it!

This dress was custom made by Liz Martinez. This is a "Yang" dress with detachable "Cecilia" sleeves. Why the customization? I love the drama of the Cecilia balloon sleeves and felt it balanced better with the Yang's more traditional gown bottom. Plus, I thought the Yang style had more beautiful appliques.

It took me many boutiques and dress try-ons (across brands like Pronovias, Galia Lahav, etc.) to find something that wasn't one of those cheesy gowns that you see in everyone's photos - something romantic, something modern but still classic, and utterly unique.

There are several layers of tulle. Outer layers are ivory, inner are nude - this is to give it a glow when the light hits just right. I also requested a layer of crinkle organza to give this dress more volume so that it holds its shape (the original Yang dress is only tulle and lays fairly flat). The front my tailor cut to kiss the ground (5' 5" with 3" heels), and the back has a train that she tagged so that the layers would move together more easily. The end result - it looks like you're floating on a cloud as you walk.

If you want to show off the silhouette of your legs, just wear undergarments. If you don't want the translucency, wear the nude liner skirt (included). As for the top, the front is fully lined, the back is unlined. You can choose to wear a bra or not - it works either way, just depends how full or round you want your boobs to look. The dress itself does not have cups, which makes it flexible to your size and preferences.

The hand-beaded appliques are meticulously placed and sparkle like crazy when light shines on them. The vines and flowers are asymmetrical and wind their way up and around in just the right places, including on the cuffs of the sleeves.

The quality of this dress is exquisite, compared to many other dresses that I've seen. It photographs beautifully, whether you want the tulle to look floaty and dreamy, or you want a more boudoir look by shining sunlight through the layers to see your figure. You can see in the photos how it changes based on different lighting. The first few photos are taken by a professional photographer, the last few of my dress fittings just on a smartphone, to show you how easily it photographs.

As a fun detail, there are 2 hand pockets cut into into the tulle by your hip.

You may not care how it wears (because so many wedding dresses are uncomfortable - especially those tight corset ones!), but this one wears very comfortably. It takes me less than 10 seconds to pull it on and have someone zip it up. I got dressed much faster than my husband and had to wait for him haha. This dress is also very light and you can move easily in it, dance, etc.

I wore this for a COVID elopement, not for an entire wedding, and it's been sitting in its garment bag since. There are a few small imperfections on the outer layer of tulle where I steamed it too hot, but they are fairly unnoticeable.

This can also come with a plain cathedral length veil. Let me know if you want it included.

Alterations
