About the Dress
The Coco dress by Australian designer Jane Hill is an extremely flattering fit to flare style with premium 3D flowers and pearl beading. It has a plunging neckline (although I didn't feel it was too revealing) and a low V back with sheer sides. The colour is ivory with mink underlay. The cut and the material were equal parts gorgeous and flattering, and it was very supportive at the waist before dropping away at the hips, allowing easy movement.
I wore this dress for my wedding day in 2022 and it is in immaculate condition and has been dry cleaned. I purchased from Halo and Wren bridal (based in Hemel Hempstead, UK) but the dress is located in Sydney, Australia - where I am from and where I got married.
Our wedding was black tie at a property in the Hunter Valley - this dress suited that occasion beautifully but equally I think given some of the pearl beading and the low back/sleeveless style, it could also suit a more casual summer or beach wedding too. So it is quite versatile! I wore with a cathedral length veil with subtle sparkle (selling separately if interested) plain strappy heels and drop pearl earrings.
When I was measured for my dress, I was (in Jane Hill sizing) AU size 8 bust (34C); size 10 waist; size 14 hips. I had a bit taken in at the waist and hips in alterations. The measurements given on the listing are my current size - I was probably slightly smaller at my wedding, but it still fits now so it has got some give in it.
I am approximately 161cm tall (just over 5'3") and I wore 9 cm heels. The dress was altered to the perfect length with my heels on - taking both length from the bottom and a bit from the straps too. A bustle has been added (very hard to find amongst the dress detail so make sure you know where it is before the day!!) as well as bra cups. The bra cups would be really easy to remove so a seamstress could easily add cups that are tailored to your size and shape if it doesn't match mine.
If you are based in Sydney I highly recommend you take to Nadi's Alterations in Crows Nest if you should need any alterations. She fit it perfectly to me and turned it around very quickly as well.
It is a totally beautiful dress, it was very comfortable to move around in, not too heavy, and looks and feels well-made and with premium material. Alterations were also really easy, and as long as you are the same size or smaller than my sizing, then it will be easy to tailor this dress to your size (if needed). I have also seen some people that have reduced the v neck so it's not as deep, and add some more material to the sides under the arms (personally I don't think necessary but a seamstress can do that for you if you prefer it). I recommend you try on the Coco dress at a bridal store and if it is the one, then it is 100% worth buying second-hand! If I had known how talented seamstresses are and how easy it is to adjust to your body then I would have done that myself. This one literally looks as new (and you don't have to wait +6 months to get it made!). Please contact me if you have any questions!
