The Dress

This dress is available for rent in Southern California (please do not report my post)!! I've decided not to sell her after all, and instead allow someone who is local in southern California to rent the dress for their wedding and get to have the experience I was fortunate enough to have! I prefer someone local so that we can meet in person, and exchange everything in person, so that we can both feel safe and good about the transaction. A little about the dress...

I took extreme care of this dress, not a THING was damaged. The only time it touched the ground was for still pictures where it was laid carefully in the sand or on the rugs. The rest of the time it was either looped around my wrist or bustled.

Comes WITH ARMBANDS!

So, here are the measurements with detail!
This dress was ordered by a dress shop in San Diego that specializes in Rue dresses. Based on my measurements in-store, they recommended to order the size 10 in Australia (where this dress is made) and get it taken in where needed. So this dress was an Aus. size 10, which is a US size 6. I am normally around a US dress size 6. I typically wear a size 4 (or 26) in jeans, and wear a small or medium size shirt.

Height: I am just under 5'8 without shoes.
Bust (around largest part of chest): 34 inches. I am a 32 or 34 DD in Victoria's secret bra's, in regular bra's I am a 32 -34 C.
Waist (smallest part of waist): 26.5 inches.
Hip (largest part around butt): 36.5 inches.

Alterations

As you can imagine, this dress has extremely intricate detailing, and you need a very good and experienced tailor to be able to make alterations to this dress in a way that doesn't affect the patterns and shape of the dress. I was very lucky to be recommended someone by the dress shop that has experience, not only working with Rue dresses, but had altered the actual east gown many times before! She was absolutely the best, and the type of alterations she did was not an easy task to do without affecting the dress' beautiful lace patterns and to be unnoticeable. So I paid a hefty price for her expertise, which reflects in the quality of her work and also in the price at which I have listed this dress.

I had the FRONT of this dress shortened, so that I could be barefoot, and the dress would still touch and lay pretty on the ground, covering my feet completely; but able to still walk in it (carefully).

**Once I put on my boots for the reception, the front of the dress sat beautifully on the toe of the boot, you could just see the toe of the cowboy boots. These had a two inch block heel, and you can see this in the 7th picture. The back of the boots were covered because the length of the back of the dress was not altered.

So the FRONT length of this dress is 58 inches, from the top where it sits right at the neck, to the tip of the crochet trim that sits in front of your toes. The nude lining is also the same length.
***She was able to shorten the front of the dress without affecting the integrity of the crochet trim***
The bottom-back of the dress was unaltered, so it still has what I believe is an 80cm train that it was made with.
Neither the neck or halter straps in the back were altered.
The waist was also not altered, it sat perfectly on my torso. It was not too tight to where it was uncomfortable, it had the perfect amount of room to move, dance, eat but also wasn't baggy.
If you are a smaller chest size, you MAY need to get the neck or straps taken in, but I wore this with nude boob tape and strapped myself down quite a bit, so depending on your size, you may not need to alter it.

****She recommended an alteration which made a big difference to my silhouette!
She took in the 'under-butt' area, in order to avoid what she called 'soggy butt' and to accentuate the bum in the most flattering way!!! This made for the most flattering views/pictures from any angle; walking, dancing, anything, I never had to worry how it looked from behind, I never looked flat and I never looked soggy! I am not a particularly 'curvy' girl, and this made my butt look outstanding and also gave a very hourglass curve to my silhouette.

*****She also made the most BEAUTIFUL bustle, that no other east gown will have.
There are hook and eye closures underneath all the tassels, so when you bustle it, it sits beautifully. It does not disrupt the shape of the bum nor the tassels, does not change the look of the dress, and stays completely off the ground, protecting the delicate lace, all of which were very important to me. You can see the bustle in the very last picture, but even better in the video.

This dress comes with a loop to wear on your wrist to hold up the train of the dress. My tailor added two more loops to reinforce this and hold it better, since the train can get heavy. You can see photos of this in two of my pictures, it makes beautiful artistic photos and is also very comfortable without the need to use the bustle.

It also came with the ever-so sought after arm bands, which my tailor added elastic on the inside of the band so that they are stretchy! They will fit on any size arm and won't move ALL night, you will forget you even have them on.
