The Dress

Monique Lhuillier 2019 Maeve Dress features thin Spaghetti Staps with a V-Neck and Low Back. If you're looking for a jaw dropping, unique dress that isn't pure white, this is the dress for you. The design, detail and french lace applique on this dress is truly mind blowing. The dress has a under-most slip that feels like butter and was entirely comfortable the night-of. The horse-hair material features a "cameo" color and the top layer is also cameo/ivory with bright white floral appliques creating a beautiful contrast. I opted for a french bustle which can be changed to whatever bustle you prefer in your alterations. My favorite thing about this dress is it does not wrinkle due to the french lace fabric.

I chose this dress for my 2020 wedding and unfortunately it was pushed to 2021 due to COVID. That said, the dress was custom made in April 2021. Like all brides, I had hoped I would still love my dress as much as I did when I chose it since so much time had passed. When it arrived for my first fitting I had the chills and loved it even more. It is a classic, timeless piece. It was worn once and is in pristine condition with no stains or tears. I've never received more compliments on a dress in my life, even from many Moms whose daughters are getting married and they said they wish their daughters dress looked like this. This was the first time anyone in my family has been able to wear a wedding gown, and it brought me such good luck with beautiful weather when the forecast was doom and gloom and multiple rainbows the night-of.

Alterations

The dress typically comes with a full, ballgown skirt. I opted to have this removed by Monique Lhuillier, creating a more A-Line style. The skirt is still full and structured due to the horse-hair material but the extra tulle that made this dress a very large ballgown has been removed.
