The Dress

I bought this Akira Isogawa dress from his workshop in Sydney as he no longer has any outlets in Melbourne.

It is a strapless, A-line, beautiful silk organza dress. It has an amazing hand embroidered flower motif trailing down the bodice and elegantly over the hips. Like all of Akira's work it is a work of art in itself.

It's deceptively simple but in true Akira style, is full of clever, intricate detail that make it both look amazing and a pleasure to wear. The organza has been cut on the bias with intricate seam detail in the outer layer. The silk under fabric is also a subtle beautiful woven floral.

I am a true pear shape so I had the bust taken in so that it will currently fit closer to a size 10 (maybe even a larger size 8). I had the bodice adjusted to make a heart shape as the original straight neckline did not really suit me. I also had the dress taken up to floor-length as it was originally extremely long. It still retains it's small train.

For me the dress was a perfect blend of elegance and something a little unique. I felt so comfortable in it on my wedding day and had many comments about how gorgeous it is. As the bodice has boning it also felt very secure - great for dancing and generally just being relaxed on the day!

I've had the dress professionally cleaned.
